Approach FAQ

What is the difference between hypnotherapy and counselling?

They are different doorways into therapeutic work—and they can sometimes meet.

Finding the doorway

Words, attention, image and experience.

Counselling often works through conversation, reflection and the therapeutic relationship. Hypnotherapy deliberately uses focused attention and may include imagery, metaphor and suggestion.

Some sessions may remain conversational. At other times, words are not the easiest place to begin and a different way of noticing may help make the invisible more visible.
