Choosing well
How do I choose a hypnotherapist or counsellor?
A polished promise matters less than clear qualifications, ethical boundaries and a relationship that feels workable.
Questions worth asking
Trust can include information.
Look for clearly stated qualifications, experience relevant to your concern, transparent fees, respect for autonomy and honest referral boundaries.
- What training and experience do you have?
- How do you decide whether hypnotherapy or counselling is appropriate?
- Can I pause or stop during a session?
- What are the fees, duration and cancellation arrangements?
- When would you refer me to another practitioner?
Be cautious with guarantees, unusually high success rates, claims of permanent change or suggestions that you need only one session. A good fit should leave room for your questions and judgement.
Rachel’s qualifications, approach, fees and location are published on the Change In Mind website.
Professional titles and registration systems differ across counselling and hypnotherapy. Confirm any membership, registration or rebate claim directly with the relevant body.
